Amazing!

So most people have probably seen this, but it was only brought to mine and Sarah's attention by the lovely Lee at AND Partners. Baffles me every time I watch it (OK, so it's only done with a sequence of coloured lights, but it's still great!)

Another possibly more impressive Tetris version here.

PS- Knightrider rocks! Anyone who says it doesn't is just stupid!

...and the plain bad/ugly/downright irritating

Why oh why must the biggest brands in the country resort to this pathetic propaganda? In light of the Christmas season approaching and the current TV ad that's running, I'm sure Boots could have found a little more goodwill in their hearts than to slag off the opposition.

Considering that Boots actually isn't cheaper on a lot of its stock in comparison to Superdrug makes this ad all the more insulting. Seriously, who writes these briefs? If the proposition was: "Rip the shit out of the opposition until they cry" then they're well on their way.

With such strong backgrounds and hoards of customers, isn't it time that the likes of Boots and Asda kicked this negative "advertising" into touch, and actually used the brand to sell rather than playing tit-for-tat with their competitors?

The good...

Boots have done it again with another great TV spot for Christmas. Admittedly it lacks some of the excitement that last year's "Here come the girls" ad had, but still another great execution of how women get the job done in the search for the perfect gift.

Watch and learn, guys!

New month, new job

The situation of Team Sparkley has changed considerably since the last post. Although Andrew was happy to keep us for one more week at AND Partners, it wasn't really feasible to keep us any longer than that at the moment as they're set to be pretty busy in the run-up to Christmas with TV shoots and the like, so he felt it'd be unfair to keep us over the holiday period when he couldn't devote much time to us. However, we have been told that we'd be welcomed back in the new year if we wished to return, so we're really happy at the moment with the avenues we have open to us come January.

Unfortunately, after some discussion between me and Sarah, we were forced to turn down Andrew's offer of a fifth week at AND Partners in order to pursue some temp work, particularly as I've already been offered something to start tomorrow! Neither of us wants to stop the placement run now that we've been on it since August, as we've been having a great time getting to grips with everything and learning more and more by the day - working on our partnership together, forming new ways to work, and seeing from the inside just how the industry works. But we know we need to take the time out to get some funds together for the next stint in January, for which we already can't wait! Plus it'll be lovely not having to scrounge around until Christmas!

So, sadly, Friday was our last day at AND Partners after our four weeks there. We hope to hear in the next couple of weeks whether some of our work is accepted by the clients we worked on there, and we'll be taking some time to work on the portfolio again whilst it's been a month since its last revamp. But for now, it's time for some drinks to wind down, merry in the thought of things to come : )
