Snot bubbles

More 90's televisual delight for you here with The Gogs. Another of my childhood favourites - wish they still showed these at Christmas, though I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be allowed to air anymore without some serious editing of violence and winkies!

If only they still made them like this!

Classic clip from Dinosaurs here. Absolutely loved this program as a kid (does still loving it mean I'm just a big kid?) If you never watched it then where the hell where you during the 90's?!

Some firm but gentle prodding (just how I like it!)

Slightly late post, but hey, you'll just have to get used to that with me! Yesterday we were lucky enough to have 2 ex-students come in to chat to us about their lives in the industry so far and giving us some sound advice on what to do to ram down the door at JWT/Saatchi & Saatchi/BBH/TBWA/McCann Erickson (delete as applicable) and get ourselves some stonkingly fab jobs. Obviously nobody could ever be as awe-inspiring as the god of BBH (loving the Hegarty!) but these lads had their heads screwed on right and were great to talk to.

I managed to get in to see Paul with my portfolio (a tad extensive as it was, oops!) and was glad of the time he could give me to go over my work and give me some pointers (and cruel dismissals that were entirely needed!) Came away from it feeling more positive than I have done in weeks what with the pressure that's been building in class due to the crap briefs we've had recently. Sure you need to be able to advertise everything, but throw us a few ruddy product campaigns every once in a while please! But yeah, I took onboard a lot of what Paul said - of course I wasn't gonna agree with everything he said (because that just wouldn't be me!) but mainly he confirmed a few things that I'd already suspected which really helped me, and he seemed keen that I add some of my 2nd year work to my book, especially my Play-Doh (a-woo-hoo!!) He suggested I see Harinder with it too, but unfortunately the queue was rather long at 4pm. But I'm hoping to email them both very soon and maybe I'll get a chance to see them with my book again some day at Love Creative or JWT (preferably both!) : )

Looking forward to getting stuck into some new briefs, particularly going to crack on over Easter and have a bash at writing some of my own, as well as re-visiting some previous work and giving it a damn good tarting up. Can't wait to extend my Play-Doh campaign and see what else I can come up with. Watch this space guys - Coming Soon to a Blog Near You!

Bear with me on this one!

So, the first post. I suppose we'd better start with introductions then. Well as you can see, I'm Hayley (I may even let you call me "H" if you're nice to me). A small town girl (well, a Wiganer anyway!) with a big ambition to break into the advertising biz, hopefully some day heading up some of the country's, if not the world's, biggest accounts and making a name for myself as a ruthless bitch who gets the job done whilst still being impossibly cute and having everyone bow at my feet (OK, maybe not that last bit). Right now, there's a long way to go, but such a short way until I finish my Advertising degree at the University of Central Lancashire (sounds posh, but it's only in Preston) - 23rd May, here I come! That's when the hard work really starts.

Hopefully once I figure out this blogging malarkey I'll be able to post some of my work (only the good stuff, of course!) and maybe a little of my photography as that's my other passion in life (besides food, which unfortunately there isn't a degree in the "Art of Eating"). I'll be attempting (with some difficulty, I'm sure!) to post my recent submission for the MPA Roses competition which ended yesterday having been sent off on Wednesday afternoon amidst much rushing around and lack of printer ink at the all-important "last moment" (which wasn't the last moment at all seeing as the courier only showed up 4 hours later lol!) All that remains is to wait and see who wins (meeeeee, please!).

The evil box of work in question.
